Butler Homeless Initiative

BHI operates the only homeless shelter in Butler County, Kansas. Last season 75 unduplicated guests were served. The previous season, 65 were served. Each night, during the season beginning November 1st, a hot meal donated by community members is served to all who enter. Only registered sex offenders and recent violent criminals are not welcomed. All others are welcome and not turned away. If the Shelter is full, arrangements are made with a local hotel. A laundry facility is available for guests to use once per week. Free haircuts are offered once each month. Local YMCA allows guests to shower daily while staying at Shelter. Breakfast and a sacked lunch is supplied to guests when they leave.
