WARM, Inc.

WARM provides emergency winter shelter, transitional housing, and outreach in our community. Additionally, the organization is a critical partner of the regional homeless response system and manages emergency motel shelter operations during health emergencies such as the Covid-19 pandemic. The services directly impact key social determinants of health for community members experiencing, or at risk of, homelessness. WARM is the sole direct provider for the homeless in our city. Our clients fall under the Federal Poverty Level and have not been able to maintain the financial resources or support systems to maintain stability or access critical services. The programs often go beyond the concept of providing shelter by also providing mentoring and social supports aimed at helping clients build the capacity to maintain stability, employment, and to assist their children in succeeding in school, when applicable. Homelessness is not a one size for all situation so services are individualized based on needs and capacity as all persons experiencing homelessness do not need all offered services. Our staff also includes trained peer support specialists who have experienced homelessness, housing instability, and other experiences that help them provide individual support. WARM has also been instrumental in initiating partnerships among agencies and services in the community serving the homeless population – including healthcare, public education, police, city government, and social services.
