First Step House

First Step House’s mission is to help people in need build lives of meaning, purpose, and recovery through integrated, evidence-based, and high-quality treatment, housing, healthcare, and employment. Founded in 1958 as a half-way house, First Step House (FSH) has evolved into a behavioral health treatment and housing provider accredited by the Joint Commission, and a consistent leader in the Salt Lake metro area achieving positive outcomes for the most vulnerable people in our community. We serve low-income and homeless individuals, veterans, and families who struggle with high-severity substance use disorders, mental illness, and chronic health issues. Our evidence-based programs include residential and outpatient substance use disorder treatment, permanent supportive housing, transitional supportive housing and recovery residences, and wraparound supportive services: primary care, employment, peer support services, long-term recovery support, and case management. Last year, FSH served 1,483 individuals.
