WINGS Program Inc.

WINGS shelters (Emergency and Transitional Housing) are located within Cook County and the City of Chicago. Transitional Housing utilizes a Scattered Site Model to ensure Survivors choose a location that will best support their needs. Upon exiting WINGS’ Safe House Survivors face a plethora of barriers preventing in pursuit of affordable safe housing that is free of triggers and access from their Person who causes harm. NCTH DATA ABOUT HOUSING STATS WINGS target population are Survivors and their families of Domestic Violence. In FY23 WINGS provided 1,219 individuals with 92,960 nights of shelter. In Fiscal Year 2023, WINGS provided 1,224 984 nights of shelter, integrative services. Additionally, WINGS provided 16,028 hours of counseling to adult and children. In FY23, WINGS Survivor’s demographics were broken down as: 48% African American, 13% Caucasian; 21% Hispanic; 1% Asian; 13% 2+ more races; less than 1% Native American and less than 1% Pacific Islander and 3% Unreported. WINGS does not discriminate against anyone fleeing domestic violence regardless of their age, race, ethnicity, LGBTQI+, Physical or Mental Disability, LMI, Limited to Non-English speaking, Veteran Status, or size of family. In FY24, WINGS proposes the total number of unduplicated Survivors will be 1,407. In FY24, WINGS anticipates providing 90 Households Emergency Shelter with 90 - 120 days of Emergency Shelter. and 180 households with Transitional, Permanent Supportive or Rapid Housing with 3 months to indefinite and integrative housing needs. In FY24, WINGS is also launching its first Community Based Resource Center which will allow Victims and their families receive counseling, safety planning, resources and referrals as they prepare to leave their abuser.

What we need most

Items that are needed or requested most are items the guest can prepare themselves or take on the go for their children or as they prepare for appointments. Snacks, bottled water, bottled juice drinks, and cereal. However, as Survivors and their families transition from Emergency Shelter to their Permanent safe housing, they require cleaning supplies, toiletries for adults and children.
