WINGS Program Inc.

WINGS has two Safe Houses; one is in Northwest Suburbs of Cook County while the other is in Metropolitan Chicago. Collectively the two shelters can provide emergency shelter to 92 adults or children for 90-120 days. WINGS does not discriminate against anyone fleeing for their safety regardless of age, race, gender, ethnicity, disability, LGBTQ+, ethnicity, or immigration status. Each of these adults and families have sought refuge from domestic violence typically seeking our services with nothing but the clothes on their back and little to no access to income due to the abuse of power within the relationship they are fleeing. While in shelter WINGS provides case management, clothing, 3 meals a day, therapeutic counseling through a strength based trauma informed lens through individual, group, family and child sessions - all voluntary. WINGS provides advocacy through housing, financial, legal, education, employment, childcare, and medical along while assisting them with their safety plan and help them transition to a safe permanent confidential new home. When the guest cannot identify a location that will be safe for them WINGS can offer them transitional housing for 6 - 24 months where they can continue to receive all of the same services at the Safe House, indefinite housing through its Permanent Supportive Housing when a disability is identified with the victim or their children, or through Rapid Rehousing which is a 6 - 12 month housing program. Each housing program is designed to meet the client where they are at that moment.
