Saint John's Program for Real Change

The mission of Saint John’s Program for Real Change is to unleash the potential of women and children in crisis by breaking the cycle of poverty and dependence, one family at a time. Saint John’s operates the largest residential employment training program in the Sacramento area, focusing exclusively on women and children experiencing homelessness. We provide safe and supportive housing in combination with comprehensive wrap-around services directly targeting the root causes of homelessness, poverty, and violence/abuse. Since 1985, we have provided more than 30,000 women and children with the essential tools to make REAL change in their lives. Today, we operate as a secular, nonprofit organization with the capacity to serve up to 320 women and children each day . Through months of difficult work and a commitment to sobriety, 96% of our Employment Training Program graduates secure positions on a career pathway to higher earnings and benefits. Through the provision of comprehensive, trauma-informed services, our goal is to permanently reduce the number of homeless women and children for generations to come. Each phase of the up-to-18-month program is flexibly designed to address each woman’s unique abilities.
