New Orleans Mission Inc.

Our strategy is RESCUE…RECOVERY…RE-ENGAGEMENT. Founded in 1989, the Mission has grown to be one of the largest faith-based service providers of the homeless population of the greater New Orleans Metro area. We are literally rescuing people from physical and/or sexual abuse, mental illness and financial hardship. Our focus is overcoming addiction by strengthening the recovery efforts of the people seeking our support, and ultimately fostering their successful re-engagement into society as healthy, disciplined skilled men and women who are ready to lead a sustainable productive, purpose-driven life. We provide free onsite medical services, including eye exams and free glasses, three delicious meals daily, totaling 38,000 meals served among three campuses. Our Outreach teams distribute food and excess groceries each week into our local communities to reduce food insecurity. Our Pantry, located at our Lacombe campus, is serving 100 low income residents of St. Tammany Parish daily and is accessible Monday through Saturday from 9am to 5pm, providing each family member with assorted meat, poultry, dry goods, produce, bread and dessert items each month to reduce food insecurity. Our 21-day shelter program is focused on spiritual growth and physical wellness and has a capacity to serve 160 men and 28 women. Those committed to changing their life and overcoming years of struggling with substance abuse, enroll into our year-long Discipleship program and continue their journey to recovery at our North shore campus in Lacombe for men (100 beds) or our Northshore campus in Hammond for women (33 beds). Our expanded Re-entry segment of this program has a high success rate advocating for all people dealing with court issues—freeing then up to focus on recovery. Our Transitional housing program adds another 28 beds for graduates to have time to work and save income. Divine Staffing offers men in Discipleship paid on the job training in commercial car washing, lawn & garden, and day labor jobs. Our ladies receive vocational training by serving guests who contract parties at Lynhaven Catering on their Hammond campus.
